Graduates earn 480 degrees, certificates from Otero Junior College


About 32.3 percent of the 480 degrees and certificates handed out by the Otero Junior College in 2016-17 were to students in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Junta conferred 155 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities programs.

But the single most popular program was for a associate's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies. Data shows the school gave out 93 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies, followed by 50 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities, Other and 45 certificates in Nursing Assistant/Aide and Patient Care Assistant/Aide.

The college enrolled 1,464 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
